I hope the Evolution developers are sitting up and paying attention to Exchange 2007.  Exchange 2007 is intended to be a bridge toward a web services model for communicating with the server for all functions external to the system.  WebDAV is deprecated.  I’ve seen it, it’s true, it’s exciting, and it’s a boon for Evolution and other webDAV clients that currently suck.

One blogger talks about it here.

  1. How’s deprecating WebDAV a good thing? What are they replacing it with then? Some other open standard? Looks like they’ve invented their own new spec; now I only hope they documented it well, so OSS projects can use it. That’d be nice.

    Evolution surely needs some loving…

  2. Hm, some feedback about “you’ve posted, but your comment awaits moderating” or something would be nice :) [I tried posting twice now]

  3. I am working (Exchange maintainer) on moving from WebDAV to EWS - though, we planned early, we just got around to wrap it up. So, expected love has started and soon be successful. http://vvaradhan.blogspot.com is the place I post my updates.
