This is an absolutely brilliant article by John Hockenberry about network news and how they are just not innovating with the rest of the world, especially in terms to new media. You owe it to yourself to read this, especially if youāre into new media.
Large Hospital Software Company Switches to Linux ā OSS Ramblings
While Iām not as optimistic as my buddy Tony on the increase of Linux market share, I am definitely in line with him on the decrease of Microsoft market share. Ā As I continue my march toward converting to an all-Mac environment at home, Windows has been relegated to not much more than a gaming console. Ā Even that is somewhat doomed though, as Iām starting to discover some of the newest games have outgrown this almost 4-year old PC. Ā Thatās fine, Iāll just start gaming on the Wii and continuing on with my old games.Ā

Hereās a memo to Microsoft: you can take the idea of a dynamic website a little too far.
Case in point: I was commenting on Hermanās blog. After signing in, Microsoft kindly filled in my details, including the blog link that I apparently inherited when signing up for Spaces. (I assure you, that was an accident).
Anyway, I donāt think Iāll be putting this web link on a business card anytime soon:
MacDailyNews ā Beleaguered Napster in search of new business model as subscriptions dwindleThereās a really good chance that other companies are watching Napster on the subscription deathbed. Ā As Napsterās muscles twitch, consider whether or not iTunes should adopt this model. Ā Now go analyze, come back with your answers. Ā
Upgraded to Leopard on the work laptop yesterday⦠yes, I said upgrade. It brought some kernel panics with it in relation to Time Machine and Parallels. Iāll write more about that later.
But initially, what do I think?
I keep clicking on shit just because it looks coooool. God does it ever. Amazing.
What fabulous news to greet my Tuesday morning ā Leopard ships on October 26th!
Time to spend some serious cash š Oh, wait⦠I donāt have anyā¦
I was one of the engineers on the call documented here from last weekend. This was the Friday night from hell.
I wonāt rehash the technical details of what happened. If you want to know the tech piece of it, head to the link. Thereās no need to restate it ā besides, it would bring back memories that might cause me to draw my own blood and scrawl nasty proverbs on the wall.
Happy Linux Thoughts: Reasons why I love Microsoftās Operating sytems
Brilliant, tasty little satirical morsel for your enjoyment.
I should also file this under jealousy that this is only the fifth entry and itās already been Dugg to the front page. Bother.
Thereās a gotcha with migrating to Exchange 2007. If your enterprise is still halfway through an Office 2007 rollout (or better yet, if itās not even begun), you should be aware that users of the delegation features in Outlook are in for trouble.
Specifically, this KB article recommends using Outlook 2007 for ādelegates in Outlook 2007 to work correctly.ā I can verify that if youāre in a situation where a mailbox is migrated to Exchange 2007 using Outlook 2007, the delegate on Exchange 2003 using Outlook 2003 loses all ability to do the delegated duties.
