  • It’s fitting that Blizzard chose Seoul, Korea as the location to announce Starcraft II.

My my, I’m excited. I’m also very impressed with the cinematic offered on the site. Their rendering gets better and better with each game – let’s just hope the storytelling also improves.

In other gaming news – Thanks to BFG for having a lifetime warranty on video cards. My 6800 GT OC has apparently been the culprit of my game crashes. I contacted BFG and they sent me a BFG 7800 GS OC to replace it. It works very well and I was able to play Oblivion without a crash!

  • Warning: mail adjustments have been made. I may lose your message if you send something in the next 24 hours and your ISP hasn’t updated DNS. If you don’t hear back from me and it’s unusual (since I get no mail, I’m good at responding), then please resend.

  • Well, I’ve been horsing around with plugins tonight. I’ve been wanting to reestablish the last.fm stuff, but apparently there’s some wacky javascript tricks that EZ Scrobbler pulls that aren’t too friendly with this theme. I like this theme, so the theme stays until I can figure out what to do with EZ Scrobbler. If you really want to see my last.fm page, go there for now.

I also found a killer WordPress podcast plugin. Can’t wait to use it.

  • Paul Thurrott’s Internet Nexus – A technology blog

On this post, Paul Thurrott points out the install base of Windows Vista is 40 million strong… so sayeth Bill Gates. Despite all of the negative press, Vista has a strong presence in the industry and is already installed on more machines than non-Microsoft products.

I echo Paul… ā€œI get it.ā€ However, what no one is able to measure unfortunately, is how many people are uninstalling Vista to roll back to XP or another operating system. Reporting that sales of Vista is 40 million strong does not mean that there are 40 million PCs using it. Every day, I read posts about people trying to weather Vista and failing.

  • Mac Mojo : Get converted

Microsoft today released beta 1 of a docx converter for Mac Office 2004. This converter allows a ONE-WAY conversion of docx files to Mac .doc format so you can open them. You cannot save them as docx from the Mac, nor send it back. That’s to ā€œprotect your dataā€ by the way.

Who cares? If Microsoft’s MacBU wanted to impress folks, they would wake up to the half-assiness known as Entourage and spend a lot of time and resources into making it a sweet and beautiful application that sings happily with PC brethren in a mixed, collaborative environment.

  • Slashdot | Congress May Outlaw ā€˜Attempted Piracy’

Clearly, efforts to shake Congressmen awake to the insanity that is the DMCA is not working. It’s getting worse. Life imprisonment for attempted piracy? Does this go too far? Absolutely. It’s not like piracy is committing murder or stealing millions from working America.

What in the hell is wrong with this country?

  • I have an idea up my sleeve for a new approach to this multiple WordPress install thing. WPMU isn’t working out for me, it’s resulting in some spam blogs showing up on this site. I can’t have that. It makes me feel dirty.

There’s a good chance this will result in you having to reregister your username. Sorry.

  • Microsoft claims software like Linux violates its patents – May 28, 2007

Here it comes, folks. This enlightening article serves up a dose of reality in the coming patent war. It’s scary stuff: Microsoft names/counts the infringing patents; Microsoft wants patent royalties from the USERS of FOSS; Microsoft might become a distributor of Linux thanks to the GPL loophole closure… all of the patent hilarity that could bring the entire industry to a screeching, mutually-assured halt.

  • So while BunBun took his nap and the wife took to exercising, I tuned in to TWiT.TV Live and watched Leo Laporte’s last hour or so of the KFI radio show that is done on weekends. Leo has hooked up a webcam and broadcasts a stream via Stickam to all interested parties. During the breaks or while on the air, he interacts with the chatroom #techguy on irc.dslextreme.com. It was pretty interesting. After the show, he gave an impromptu press conference with the chatroom, which was inundating him with questions about how TWiT is going, how he gets his show into other markets, his equipment and jazzy setups, etc. It was very interesting and I’ll be sure to tune in for more when I can.

  • So, Jaiku is just like Twitter… it’s a miniblog that you use to communicate up-to-the-minute blurbs of what you’re doing. You can use it from a Quicksilver plugin or via your cell phone (which I’ve not tried yet). I prefer it over Twitter simply because… well, because Twitter is the current trend and Jaiku is less trendy but accomplishes the same thing. If you want up-to-the-minute reports of what I’m doing, you can even subscribe to the feed.
