I see it happen every day. Thereâs a cast of characters out there â Leo Laporte, Chris Pirillo, Jason Calacanis, John Dvorak, Robert Scoble (whom I absolutely DESPISE because of that âIâm the man!â snapshot on his blog⊠makes me want to beat him with his fucking tripod)⊠a whole elite clique of cynical blog/journalists who bring up topics and lead folks around them.
The net is abuzz tonight as MobileMe users recieve more notices that MobileMe still isnât what Apple had hoped it would be, so itâs offering 60 days more for free.
Paul Thurrott has already played the part of the cynic and provided a rather insightful metaphor, but Iâm going to come down on the positive side and say that MobileMe has been a wonderful experience for me. Not only has it been wonderful, itâs turned my iPhone into something I can only describe as a thing of glory.
Tomâs Hardware posts an article with a Mac Pro/PC cost comparison and what do ya know⊠it draws pretty much the same conclusion I posted in June of last year. (WARNING: Difference is that I did a cost comparison between a Dell PowerEdge server with Small Business Server 2003 and an XServe, which turns out to be an even greater value).
I notice Paul Thurrott isnât rebutting the article either. I donât consider myself part of the iCabal, but I do consider myself a member of the class of common computing sense.
While perusing through my Junk E-Mail folder this morning, I noticed an interesting-looking spammy item that invited me to an extras casting call.
Well, that wasnât the interesting part. The really interesting part was that there was a privacy policy and license attached to the email. The policy/license stated that by clicking the remove email link, I was granting the spammer to send me more spam. At least theyâre honest.
Today, our Blackberry reps came to visit for the quarterly meeting with our project. Itâs always fun when these folks visit; theyâre quite personable and wow, do they like to eat.
This time they brought along a fellow by the name of Jim from Boxtone. Boxtone is a monitoring system for RIMâs flagship product and it seems pretty interesting.
What was more interesting was the fact that his Vista laptop absolutely, positively would not get on the guest wireless. It would connect with a proper signal strength of 5 bars, but it would not get an address from the local DHCP server.
WWDC 2008 is sold out. WWDC is sold out for the first time in history.
Guess who hadnât gotten his ticket?

Setup Entourage 2004 to connect to Exchange 2007 â Robbas Weblog]1
After reading this blog article and knowing that Entourage 2004 and Evolution both use webdav to talk to Exchange, Iâm wondering if this information would resolve Evolution connectivity into Exchange 2007. Â Those of you coming to this blog and seeking that info could give it a try, then comment below if it works. Â Thanks đ
#477454 â Insulting source code â Debian Bug report logs
âŠran across this bug filing in my morning travels. What a scream. I love it when nerds get personal and start using source code to do battle. Thatâs one of my favorite parts of Linux â just think of all the copies of Debian floating around out there that contains source code like this (Warning: salty, sailor-esque language, as if readers of this blog havenât run across it before):
plasma and the screensaver « ChaniBlog
So, while trolling the feeds and coming across Chaniâs post about this screensaver⊠and what amounts to one of the stranger use cases Iâve seen in a while⊠thereâs this discussion about some plans to integrate plasma widgets into kdescreensaver and whatnot. Yeah, she has a use case to justify this sort of functionality and itâs a little odd. All I have to say is that if I had friends who took it upon themselves to diddle with my laptop while I was away, Iâm afraid homicide would be in order.
âGateway is the first to come out with an all-in-one computer with one cable!â
âGateway is a technology leader in the industry!â
âStreamlined and beautiful!â
âIntel came to Gateway and said, âWe want to design the best all-in-one unit ever made!’â (This line was borrowed from Steve Jobsâ speech, no?)
âWe have 2GB of RAM, so itâs true multitasking!â
âItâs just built for power!â
It was pretty thick.
Dear God I have to turn this off.
