  • Apparently I’m not the only one who has noticed the iSight camera has disappeared.Ā  While perusing through my web log analysis for the start of March, I discovered that at least 2 people have used the search term, ā€œwhat happened to isightā€ to arrive here.

It’s gone, and that probably means something – but I’ve not been around Apple’s stuff for long.Ā  I certainly wouldn’t want to start any excited rumors or anything – but dayum, if they come up with an 8-core Mac Pro that includes an iSight, that’ll fawkin rawk.Ā  But dear Goddess, I want a Mac and I want out of this Microsoft hell.

  • Today I became quite fascinated by the Twingley Blogosphere Screensaver (I lost the link and I’m too lazy to go look it up – Google it, gang).Ā  The Twingley Blogosphere Screensaver gives you that spooky feeling you used to get when you first hooked up a Hayes 300 baud Smartmodem to jack into the rest of the planet.Ā  It’s that feeling where the entire world was at your fingertips.

Tonight I’ve been listening to Macbreak Weekly and watching the screensaver roll.Ā  Interestingly enough, now that it’s nighttime in the states, you can see the activity blooming like mad.Ā  It’s beautiful to watch… and if you were able to watch the waves from space, I’d imagine it would look something like that.

  • So, just as soon as I spread my wings on Ubuntu one more time, it smacks me down like the bitch I am. For some odd reason, directories just began to disappear from the disks. Disappear! Can you believe that? I first noticed it when network mounts weren’t coming back and there were long, odd pauses on the desktop when it loaded.

    Back to Windows again. Sigh.

I had a problem in Windows over the past two months – it was a problem so annoying that it drove me to try Ubuntu again. I had a problem where everytime the computer toked on the hard disks or the network, it would pause. The mouse would stop moving – just enough to annoy. On first glance, it’s easy to think… okie… my hard drives are messed up (especially after what Ubuntu did!) – but then, I rolled back to some ancient revisions of the SATA driver and the problem went away. We’re talking… ancient as in 2005.

  • So Lost re-premiered tonight with quite a bang. There was a guy on a table with an open back… who woke up during surgery and was conscious enough to still play the Others game of dirty pool. There was a gunfight/footrace through the jungle. There was brainwashing. There was a boat. There was love and loss. It had it all. Welcome back to Lost, the best show ever written for TV. I’m glad you’re back.

  • I meant to write a post last night and catch everyone up to the fact the our son BunBun has started school.Ā  His first day was yesterday (Wednesday the 10th) and he did wonderfully.Ā  He came back to mama just once, then on the second goodbye, he was just fine with it.Ā  He made friends, played outside and had a wonderful time.

    I’m very proud šŸ™‚

Sorry I didn’t have a chance to catch you up to this fact.Ā  We’ve been terribly busy at work as usual.

  • Well, tonight is another night for that New Year’s thing. First off, let me say… Happy 2007!

Today we ate/socialized with Whitey and Vo0 at Cheeburger Cheeburger in Providence. Funtastic time! Thanks for the Christmas gift, guys! I can hardly wait to play it! I’m glad you guys are back in town and enjoying it so far. This town has become so much more interesting lately – and it’s only getting better. Besides, you’re just keeping with the trend of everyone moving away… then coming back… heh.

  • BunBun: Anything from Cars or Monster Jam… the remote-controlled Superman is apparently a big hit, mostly because he can destroy our furniture with it.

Taitai: a Kitchen Aid blender, but it’s the wrong color (dammit)

Me: an 80gb iPod!Ā  My conversion to Apple begins šŸ˜‰

  • So on Christmas Eve, Buckshot calls me and says his Windows is calling him out for being a pirate.

It seems that a few days after arriving home from Florida, his computer decided he was running a pirated copy of Windows XP, thanks to Windows Genuine ā€œAdvantage.ā€Ā  The ā€œAdvantageā€ utility had decided that because he left the regional settings set to the eastern time zone, but had modified his clock by hand to the correct time, that he was a pirate.

  • The night is silent once again… time for all of the Santas out there to stir up the dust from the closet.Ā  Merry Christmas from our family to yours šŸ™‚

  • One of the final touches on the migration was getting the Asia Albums back from the Mac iWeb site. This is now done. You can access it here. (Update your bookmarks if you added any because this site’s URL has changed ever so slightly).Ā  While waiting on a server reboot this morning at work, I went ahead and blasted the files onto the new server.
