A German schoolgirl claims the title of “world’s longest tongue” with a slimer that measures 7 centimeters. As the article mentions with tantalizing allure, “The twelve-year-old from Tangstedt, near Hamburg, can lick the ice cream from the bottom of a cornet – while her friends have to use their fingers.”
Give it a few more years and this girl will be quite popular with the boys. Let’s all say prayers for the sanity of her father.
Neatorama » Blog Archive » The Strangest Disaster of the 20th Century.
This morning’s read is a strange piece about a mysterious disaster in Cameroon in 1986 that killed an estimated 1,800 people or so. Despite the macabre, it’s a totally interesting piece that serves to remind us just who exactly is in charge of this planet.

National Taiwan Democracy Memorial Hall
President Chen Sui Bian continues his assault on Taiwan’s history as Chaing Kai Shek Memorial Hall is renamed to the National Taiwan Democracy Memorial Hall.
Not only does it dishonor the history (those who forget history are doomed to repeat it) – I’d imagine the new name will further the flames with mainland China since it contains the word “Democracy.” Maybe not – I often find myself misunderstanding much of this issue, as many Americans do.
NASA rethinking death in mission to Mars – CNN.com
Interesting article about how NASA has to deal with thorny ethical issues, now that they’re considering a flight to Mars.
“It would be great if we could say to the whale, Say “ahhh” and stick your tongue out”… classic!
CNN shooting highlights safety in public workplaces

My motivational transportation has sprung a leak and suffered a flat. I’m at work, but could give a damn if I get anything done. The weather is too nice outside. I’ve not been able to shake the sleepy haze this morning and I have a tinge of a headache. It’s one of those headaches that you get when your assbone digs into the fluff of your chair so much that it starts to harm your circulation and you feel minor little spasms in the back of your head. Top that off with being quite hungry and knowing that you have several meetings to attend in the afternoon, it makes for a flat tire.
If you go over to resellerratings.com (direct link here) and look up 1-800-FLOWERS.COM, you’ll discover that they had a really, really bad Valentine’s Day. The rating is an abysmal 0.70 out of 10 (that’s right, below 1 point!) and the pages are filled with irate customers who didn’t get their bundles of love delivered on time… or at all, really.
Really interesting reading – sometimes it makes me wonder how many folks can register a domain in a fly-by-night operation, get the hits to the website, promise things like this, take the money…
Guard dogs protecting a fruit orchard in Malaysia have met their match – a 7.1-metre long python that swallowed at least 11 hounds before it was finally discovered by villagers.
Here is a nice, thought-provoking article about Bernie Sanders. Bernie is a Senator – and a Socialist.
Interesting story and very, very well written.
