Up early for another one of those first-planes-to-Atlanta things so I can head west for the week. This trip includes a visit with Apple, so I’m excited. Also, plenty of chances to see Creth and company, mucho happy about that as well.
Wow, okie I suck. I’ve not been posting in a while, I realize this – but to look over my Adsense and see that I had *2* page impressions yesterday? Hahahaha wow.
Sorry I’ve been MIA folks. I’ve been quite busy. This is the obligatory, “Sorry my blog sucks, but I’ve not given it much attention lately.” By the time I get to Seattle, WA this afternoon, I will have clocked in about 62 hours on the day job this week. It’s things like this that keep me away. I’m sure you understand. If you don’t understand, tough.
So there’s the situation that developed last night that I just have to laugh about. It’s one of those things I usually think happens to just me… some real life slapstick. The setup was perfect, the execution was perfect, the timing was perfect – it really was something out of The Money Pit.
So my son declares it’s time for him to pee pee. All the signs are there – he’s dancing the dance and gripping the appropriate place. I wasn’t in a position to immediately help him and neither was Taitai. No problem, we have taken the childproof door knob off just for a situation like this. We encouraged him to go.
Leo Laporte and his gang of TWiTs have become heroes of mine. It’s great to keep up with the pulse of their opinions on a weekly basis.
Ever since the new iPhone ads came out, Leo has projected on his podcasts that the editing of the ads was misleading – the interface is not that smooth, there will be wait time inbetween applications, etc.
I wonder if Leo has watched the keynote from WWDC? At WWDC, the iPhone was demo’d for some applications and the interface/app switching was indeed very fluid and smooth. The only rough edges occurred when moving around in Safari. There was a “checkerboard” filler on the screen while Safari rendered the page as requested. Everything else was fluid.
Is Apple missing out on a desktop for tinkerers?
A few weeks ago I was chatting it up with Whitey over what could be a missed opportunity for Apple. You see, Whitey is one of those power desktop prosumers when it comes to computers. He’s like me… he’s never been particularly interested in purchasing a branded computer. We’ve always built our computers and compared them as though they are penises:
“d00d I just got an Nvidia 666 with 666 mb of RAM.”
Glad to be back to the red, fiery theme. Whew.
Greetings from San Francisco. It’s been a long trip, but we finally made it in to the hotel. We’re in downtown San Francisco – in the Westin St. Francis across from Union Square. This is a nice, nice hotel… and downtown SFO is quite lively, but there’s also plenty of homeless folks here begging on the streets…
Despite a cancelled flight, we’re heading out this morning to San Francisco. The new flight itinerary sucks terribly, but what can you do? The other choices just weren’t very good at all and cancelling means giving up a lot of dough. At the mercy of the airlines again.
We’ll be landing in SFO at around 5:39pm today Pacific… then tomorrow will be a day of play and WWDC registration… then Monday… WWDC! I can hardly wait.
I’ve gotten through the long, arduous trip from LAX to my home town. This day has been pretty much a flash before my eyes – not entirely sure I remember much of it, but here’s what I do remember about the trip:
Next list… of other activities:
