8:48am PDT: Here we are again at Moscone West. We wanted to stop and get some real breakfast this morning but that just didn’t pan out. We ended up with pastries and coffee again. We headed on in and camped out at the sofas in the lounge.
In a few minutes I’ll be heading up to the Live with David Pogue show on the third floor.
10:53am PDT: Live with David Pogue show was very entertaining. A good way to start the show. Next up we’re heading into a conference session about Macs in the Washington Post.
Finally, here’s the video of the long keynote walk. Told you it was coming!
Having trouble getting the movie uploaded. I will try again from the hotel and the hard wire.
I wanted to sleep in a little bit as last night was a long one. We had plenty of work issues and the party on top of that; I was quite exhausted by the time my noggin touched the pillow. I think I was out before I even fully rested on said pillow.
Sleeping in apparently wasn’t on the agenda for family and folks back home. Around 6am Pacific my Blackberry started ringing off the hook. I realize people likely do not feel very sorry for me since it was a party after all, but dammit I had to work too. I am trying to avoid thinking about work. Sheesh. I am here at Macworld learning stuff!
So Macworld Day 2 was quite fun in oh so many ways.
We started the day at 5am, making it into the Keynote line by 6am. That much you know. I’m putting the final polish on a video that documents our wait from a bit after we arrived to the time that we walked up to the exciting moment. I’ll be posting that today, bandwidth and battery life permitting.
We went to various conferences through the day and also fought work issues at the same time. At around 3:30 or so, we ended up walking the exhibition floor. Lots of interesting products are out there – but chief among them is of course the Macbook Air.
Here’s some pictures from this morning’s cattle herd, waiting to hear from his Jobness.
We arrived in line at 6am Pacific on the nose. We end with entering the keynote auditorium at roughly 8:50am.
I’ll post more pictures later, and I have a video of the line to pass along as well. Watch for more… but right now, I’m in a conference.
6:00am PDT: We arrived to the line at Moscone West. We were placed about halfway the length of the building. Looks like we’re going to get a seat!
Pictures/video coming.
7:15am PDT: We’ve been moved upstairs to the 2nd floor of Moscone West, waiting to make the final trek in about an hour.
10:54am PDT: We’re out of the Keynote. Holy crap, the Macbook Air is amazing. Today’s announcements were very nice. The iPhone software updates are very cool. The only downer that I detected was the iPod Touch $20 software upgrade cost, but I’m betting that’s a Sarbanes-Oxley issue like the 802.11n upgrade was.
– Woke up at 6:39am. Far too late. Meant to get up at 6am. The hotel’s alarm clock didn’t go off, but my Blackberry did. Saved by the BB once again.
– Got ready and headed down two blocks to Starbuck’s while listening to a work telecon. It sure sucks to be on morning telecons at 7am. I feel for the west coast folks (Ames, JPL, etc.)
– Sitting in Starbuck’s with a grande sugar-free vanilla latte and a sausage, egg and cheese english muffin with my coworker writing this to you. Next up, we head down two or three more blocks to Moscone West to register. My coworker thought this thing was at Moscone Recreation Center. Hit Google Maps for where he thought we were going. That’s a hell of a walk (and uphill, too!)
– Arrived in San Francisco at about 5pm Pacific.
…almost missed my plane in Atlanta… damn, gotta stop booking flights with 20-30 minutes inbetween and having to haul ass through that airport!
…listed to lots of podcasts, watched two episodes of Battlestar Galactica Season 2 and one episode of Jericho.
…read up on Confessions of Economic Hitman. Interesting read so far.
– Got to Westin St. Francis about 6:20pm. Checked in. Room on the ninth floor had the faint smell of cigar smoke, instantly got sick. Asked to switched to another room. At that time, my coworker called. He got the room right next to me. We switched rooms.
Because I have tickets to Cloverfield for 9:40pm on January 18th, 2008, the precise night the movie is supposed to take place. I am cool. Phear me. Oh, did I mention I bought them for a DLP theatre in a major city?
I am so cool.
