  • Too much of ask a ninja all at once starts to ruin the formula.

Maybe I’ve just had too much wine.

  • I’ve managed to catch up on quite a bit of to-do’s while the wife and son were out of town. Netflix is probably scratching their collective skulls at the amount of movies I’ve returned. I had three of them for over a year and suddenly I’ve not only returned three of them, but now I’m returning three more. What’s going on here? Surely he must be *gasp* copying the movies?

  • One of the things I’ve been able to do while the wife and son are away (see porkbuns.org as to why they’re not here) is catch up on some movies that I’ve been meaning to see.

My daughter warned me that Pan’s Labyrinth is one of her favorite new movies. I finally got to soak that one in tonight. By the end of it, my only thought was that Spain has managed to top China in sad movies. What a totally unexpected, touching gem of a film. I’m glad to see foreigners aren’t afraid to break boundaries in cinema.

  • HUNTSVILLE, AL: A creature formed by excess cable in a data center has been slain by an intrepid systems administrator armed with a caution sign.

The creature, which formed after floor tiles were opened for the first time in 7 years, spoke to the systems administrators working in the area and taunted them with ā€œtrash talk.ā€

ā€œIt told me I couldn’t network my way out of a paper bag,ā€ said Mortimer Franklin, a Windows 2003 systems administrator. ā€œThat really upset me, because I was right in the middle of following the wizard to install Exchange 2003. I know how to follow directions, so its claims just weren’t true.ā€ Mr. Franklin was so offended by the taunting of the creature that he put down the clipboard containing instructions on how to do his job and informed security.

  • I was one of the engineers on the call documented here from last weekend. This was the Friday night from hell.

I won’t rehash the technical details of what happened. If you want to know the tech piece of it, head to the link. There’s no need to restate it – besides, it would bring back memories that might cause me to draw my own blood and scrawl nasty proverbs on the wall.

  • This new thing I’ve been cooking up here lately is starting to get some ā€œrah rah!ā€ momentum, methinks. I had a nice three hour meeting with an old coworker from the station who, after talking through all of the ideas, seems very much behind it. Earlier today I had an awesome meal with Vo0 and Whitey the Yak Shaver, there were some funny ideas brewing behind that one as well.

  • Woman Arrested For Committing Act of Love. : Lock the Bedroom Door on Offsprung.com

The only warning I’m ever going to give you: this link is from a sex blog. If you can’t deal with that, don’t click.

So this link briefly explains the situation of a woman in France who was overcome with desire when seeing an all-white painting and she kissed it. It was a sloppy, wet kiss that smeared lipstick all over the painting. It actually looks more like someone’s skin was opened and some blood was smeared across it, but whatever. The point is, she was arrested.

  • Interview with Ang Lee – CNN.com

Here’s an interesting interview with one of my favorite directors. There’s not a lot of new information in there, but you at least get a sense of his character.

  • Happy Linux Thoughts: Reasons why I love Microsoft’s Operating sytems

Brilliant, tasty little satirical morsel for your enjoyment.

I should also file this under jealousy that this is only the fifth entry and it’s already been Dugg to the front page. Bother.
